Hurricane Dolly
My dad and sister rode out Hurricane Dolly in South Padre Island, Texas yesterday and sent me videos while it was taking place. These were taken with his Blackberry and he hooked his laptop up to a charger in his truck and connected to the internet via a Verizon aircard.
Hurricane Dolly reached CAT 2 status and the eye of the hurricane hit right around South Padre. Don't worry, they were perfectly safe. That's my dad and sister on the video and they were staying in a house that's rated for hurricanes. Also, my dad has now been through 9 hurricanes (5 of them at sea!) and he's also an environmental consultant for the coastal region. He was actually excited that they were going to get to see the eye of the hurricane.
Today he and my sis are out helping clean up and measuring the damage and effects to that region. If you follow the videos back to the YouTube page they're on, look at the comments, especially on the second one. I love the internet. It cracks me up the things people feel free saying on it.
Another reason why Barack Obama is better than John McCain...
So of course I have subscribed to the Daily Heller from Print, and what should I find in my Inbox today? Why it's yet another reason why I heart Obama and I don't heart McCain. Look at Obama's Bauhaus-esque fantabulous poster! It was created by Obama's design team in honor of his trip to Berlin. I LOVE IT! Seriously, I want to marry that poster.Sigh, and then Herr Heller turned my attention to one of John McCain's recent posters:
Do you see the difference, people? I'm not saying you should vote for Obama just because his poster is better. You should vote for Obama because his policies and ideals are better, the poster is just icing! Haha, you know what I just realized? McCain's poster which claims that "peace is born of wisdome" has fighter jets on it. Peace....fighter jets...and golden clouds for some reason. Yeah, good job. (and Jizzy Crizzy McCain is old!)

John Mathais

I recently found John Mathais through a link on Design Sponge. I love that his work is both feminine and retro and some of it has a slight punk feel to it. Enjoy :)
