a whole lot of fabulous

so i browse on over to one of my favorite blogs, oh joy!, and i see this post about Paul & Joe Beaute. first off, i downloaded the black kitty background and then the screen saver and then i looked around the site and it is fabulous! i love the whole design and had to post a couple pics from it. the whole thing is like candy! i just want to eat it up. speaking of eye candy, i believe their products are sold at anthropologie. can i just say, the next time i move, it will be to a city that has an anthropologie store! this city sucks. i'm leaving. goodbye. okay, i'm going to finish my degree, maybe get a couple years experience (and maybe meet some wonderfully sensitive, cute and funny man), and then i'm going to leave (and take him with me). goodbye!

must these people insist on continuing to exist?

i would like to take a moment to reflect on coworkers. some of them are nice. some of them are jerks. and some of them, even though they're not necessarily bad people, just annoy the crap out of you. it is that last category i would like to take a moment to dwell on. this person at the place i work is quite loud, laughs all the freaking time, often for now reason or at weird places in the conversation, doesn't know when to stop talking or what is appropriate to talk about. now, he/she is a relatively nice person...doesn't seem to be mean spirited in any way. but annoying none the less. there's really no important message, here folks. i'm just bitching. if you want to bitch about your annoying coworkers, please feel free to share in the comment section of this post. thank you very much and have a nice day.

tiny fallen soldiers

should we ever meet, become great friends or lovers, and decide to spend a lot of time together doing many wonderful things, you should know one thing: unless you are a military strategist or otherwise world domination boardgame champion, you probably shouldn't play Risk with me. because i will smoke you. don't take it personally, it's just the way it is. now, i'm not saying i won't ever be defeated. i'm just saying it hasn't happened yet.

i always play the black game pieces so my friends and family who have played Risk with me call me the Black Plague. i don't know if this means anything about me personally. i think i'm a relatively nice person. i care about other people and their well being. but, i play Risk to win. i kick tiny plastic army butt.

warning!

i had this song stuck in my head for a week! so view this absolutely hilarious video from Flight of the Conchords with caution. i love Flight of the Conchords. also check out Albi the racist dragon, Foux da Fafa, and Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros on youtube. if you haven't seen/heard the Conchords before, you're welcome. If you have, watch it again. it will still be funny.

happy day

i'm so excited! yael naim's album is finally available on itunes! and i downloaded it and am listening to it right now! i really LOVE it! i also apparently love exclamation marks! ok, i'll stop now. but seriously, i really am loving this album. and i also love the "digital booklet" that came with the download (the pics above are from that). i assume these would be the same as the physical cd. i really like the photography and graphics work. it has a fun, free-spirited yet slightly mystic feel to it. so i'm happy now. go download it so you can be happy too :)

movies i love/have seen recently

alright, if you haven't seen Juno yet, for the love of pete, go see it! it's a wonderful movie, very sweet in a sometimes biting sarcastic way. it's funny and loveable so just go see it already.

this weekend i rented Paris, je t'aime which is a collection of twenty short films from various directors. there's quite a few big names in it, both american and french. some of the shorts were great and you connected with the characters almost immediately, some were a little strange, and there were a couple that didn't do anything for me. but overall, i enjoyed it.

i also rented Once. i had heard good reviews on it both from critics and saw some mentions on other people's blogs. i enjoyed it overall. the music was moving and well written...so much so that i bought the soundtrack from itunes. it's not one of those films where everything is wrapped up and tied in a pretty little bow at the end, which to tell the truth can be quite tiresome. it was real. actually, i think the more i contemplate it, the more i like it. so you should watch it too. go ahead...do it! i know you love it when i boss you around so.

new duds

so i redesigned my banner and changed up the colors a bit. but now i'm feeling like i want more...but i don't know a lot about coding so it might take some time. either way, what do you think of the new banner?
i think i might make the banner a little less yellow...it doesn't look that yellow on my computer at home...

flying high (ish)

these pictures were taken this past summer in port aransas. this is when i discovered how much fun the high speed setting on the camera was. the pic on top is me followed by the middle sister, kristen, and the youngest (and most athletic) hannah. i'm really glad my sister caught me mid air because that was my one and only jump and it resulted in a skinned knee.

as much as i hated living in port a, looking at these pictures made me long for summer and the warm weather on the texas coast. it made me remember perfect days at the beach and long, lazy swims. i guess you usually remember the good things. i'd never want to move back, but now i have the urge to go somewhere warm with a beach. i know it's only january but i can't want for spring/summer!

darn you morning sun...

i am so not a morning person. over the holiday break, i have been working at the library from 8-5 and i don’t think i can properly express how much i loathe going to work at 8 o’clock. now i know, once i graduate and go back out into the “real world” i will have to get up early again. i know this. i remember it all well from my relatively short career as a hair stylist. but i think i will be much more willing to get up and go when i know i’m going to a job i enjoy. that is not the case now. anyways, when the day comes that my dues have been paid, i have experience behind me, and a long list of clients, i will somehow find a way to make my day start at 10 am. if that means i have to work until 7, so be it. i don’t know if this is something i will accomplish in america though. we’re so driven to be driven. and apparently that includes getting up early. whatever. i guess all the hustle and bustle makes sleeping in on saturday all that much sweeter. i only wish i was awake to enjoy all the sleeping! har har har.

Yael Naim does Toxic

this is amazing. i never thought i'd be enraptured by a britney spears song (poor brit). i'm in love with yael naim but not enough to pay $45.99 for her imported cd. hopefully it will be released stateside soon. also check out "new soul". you can download the mp3 free here. enjoy!
